Palmetto shows dates for Florida and North Carolina decision-making period
Did Medicare administrative contractor Palmetto GBA just give us the first clue about when the Review Choice Demonstration decision-making period will take place in Florida and North Carolina? Materials onscreen during a training session being conducted by Palmetto in Texas this morning show a March 20-April 19 timeframe for both Florida and North Carolina. It's not yet official, as no announcement has been made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the decision-making period, but a mid-March to mid-April timeframe has been anticipated to pave the way for the official May 4 launch date which was announced last year. Home care providers in Texas are winding up the selection process today in preparation for a March 2 implementation date in that state. Texas will join Ohio and Illinois in the five-state demonstration, which requires home health agencies to decide whether they want their Medicare claims reviewed for accuracy prior to or after submission. Agencies do not have to make a review choice, but the consequences include significant reimbursement losses. Weekend RCD Special To help home care providers in RCD states prepare for the demonstration, Home Health Solutions is offering a specially-priced RCD package focusing on face-to-face competency. The $49.99 package includes a popular, 60-minute instructional webinar on F2F documentation, a digital guide outlining 12 common F2F documentation errors and an RCD Staff Training Workbook divided into four sections for brief training sessions. Each section features review questions. The package will only be available at this price through Monday, Feb. 17. Buy it here.
